This is a position that is focused on our customers and our facilities electrically for fabrication and repair installation. Assist in vessel overhauls, craft and vessel support in set-up, connection and tear down of temporary power. Incumbent may also assist in maintenance and repair of the facility electrically. (This position requires incumbent to be capable of working with little supervision and occasional leading the work with a small crew.)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Successfully performs work individually, as a member of a single craft, or a multi-craft work crew.
1. Complies with all electrical standards (IEEE, ABS, USCG and NEC) safety and environmental policies and procedures.
2. Assist in job planning through the JHA (Job Harzard Analysis) process
3. Layout wire ways and install cable proficiently
4. Pulling and leading cable with proficiently
5. Dressing and banding of wire ways
6. Mounting and cutting in electrical equipment such as distribution panels MCC's, motors, etc. with proficiency
7. Terminating power and controls from schematics
8. Reads and redlines electrical line diagrams, general arrangement drawings proficiently
9. Executes work from specifications with little need for supervision
10. Utilizes electrical hand tools, meters, pneumatic and electric trade specific tools (knockouts, crimpers, etc.) with proficiency
ESSENTIAL SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Incumbent performs similar work in all areas of the Yard or on board vessels as the need arises.
JOB SCOPE:
The scope of this position includes but is not limed to working off of production releases at the department supervisor's direction to carry out work items in accordance with specifications and working drawings. Identifying and reporting anything that carries the work outside of that scope and communicating additional resources needed. This includes communicating progress, identifying hazards and maintaining an organized and safe work space.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This is not a supervisory position. It may, at this, require incumbent to lead work with a small crew.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND/OR KNOWLEDGE:
1. Understanding of OHM's laws.
2. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of AC and DC
3. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Power generation, controls and distribution.
4. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of transformer theory
5. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of motors and motor controllers
6. Intermediate to advanced abilities reading and interpreting specifications, prints and schematics
7. Familiarity with IEEE and NEC
8. Familiarity with ABS and USCG regulations as it pertains to the daily tasks
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED preferred. 3-5 years relevant work experience. Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.
